G&G SG552 Swiss Arms Carbine AEG
The SG552 rifle by G&G Armament is a flawlessly and faithfully reproduced, licensed copy of the Swiss Arms Sig 552 assault rifle. Manufactured in Taiwan, this rifle promises to be better quality than similar model made in China. The long 20.8 inch barrel and comfortable stock makes this rifle perfect for use as a Designated Marksman Rifle in medium to long distance engagements. The upper receiver, lower receiver, bi-pod, and barrel assembly are a high quality aluminum alloy. The rest of the parts are a durable blend of nylon, fiberglass, and plastic able to withstand all but the most vicious of abuse. The mechbox comes pre-upgraded from the factory with zinc gears, high tension spring, 6mm bearings, and a 25000 rpm Hi-torque short axis motor. The gun comes with a G&G 30 round low capacity magazine but high capacity replacements can hold 220 rounds or more. As if it couldn't get better, this rifle comes standard with a built in metal bi-pod for increased accuracy in support and sniper roles and a rubber fitting along the bolt just like the real thing! The battery compartment is ingeniously designed and located inside the forearm of the rifle and can be difficult the first time to install. First push down and twist the gas adjust valve and remove. The top handguard half can then be pushed down and removed exposing the battery sheath. The sheath is held in by a non-clipping large tamiya connector, so once the battery is installed inside the sheath, you can charge it directly through the sheath via the large tamiya. Reverse the process and you're good to go. Airsoft players recommend using this rifle in a Designated Marksman or sniper role for best results.
Note: Does not include battery or charger
- Taken from an article on the real counterpart: This weapon was developed in response to a Swiss need for a new service rifle to replace the STGW-57; in Swiss service, this assault rifle is called the StG-90. It was adopted in 1984. The weapon was designed for light weight, balance, and accuracy, using plastics for the butt-stock, hand-guard, and pistol grip, as well as the magazines. The stock is folding and skeletonized to reduce weight. The magazines are clear so ammunition levels can be checked, and are equipped with studs and lugs so that up to three of them can be clipped together for rapid changing. The sights consist of day and illuminated night rear sights (one flips the sights to change between the two), and a hooded post-type front sight (also with a tritium inlay). The sights are adjusted for elevation and wind-age from the rear sight only, and when either the day or night sight is adjusted, the other sight is simultaneously adjusted. There is a STANAG-compatible sight mount for optics of the NATO sort, and this mount can also accept a MIL-STD-1913 rail. The SG-550 is notable for its long 20.8-inch barrel; in addition, a bi-pod is standard equipment. Various Western-type 40mm under-barrel grenade launchers may be mounted.
- A close copy to the original Tokyo Marui S550 rifle that was discontinued back in 2002 or so. Now it's back and made by G&G Airsoft, with OD green furniture and an extreme attention to detail. it even has rubber fittings along the bolt just like the real thing! Mostly all fiberglass, just like the real gun as well. A great airsoft gun you will enjoy for many years.
