AIRSOFT PRODUCT REVIEWS:
Review of the Tokyo Marui AK-47 Intro- I have been playing with my Tokyo Marui AK-47 for just over a month now and I have to say, out of my entire airsoft armory it is one of my favorites. The weapon has a lot going for it and few downfalls though I will cover everything from the good to the bad and the ugly here. Function- First off, the gun looks pretty good. The furniture, made of ABS plastic has a synthetic wood grain that is painted on which is not spectacular by any means but passable. The rest of the gun looks great and is a very good representation of the true AK-47. As most Tokyo Marui guns the body is also made of plastic but the gun as a whole is surprisingly sturdy in spite of the body and furniture being made of plastic. When holding the weapon it feels very solid with very little if any noticeable flex or wobble (A pet peeve of mine.). Out of the box, the AK-47 performance was impressive enough that I had decided right there that I would not do any internal upgrades to it until something broke. The accuracy was wonderful, keeping a very tight group at short range and still maintaining a group tight enough to be very dangerous to a target at maximum range. The range on the stock gun was also great. I was able to consistently reach rounds out to 60 + meters with enough accuracy to eliminate another player without a problem. The AK-47 rate of fire is quite more than the real steel but still very nice to have. Maybe this is why the AK-47 sports one of the highest capacity, high-cap magazines. The AK-47 high-cap magazines hold 600 rounds! Couple that with the high rate of fire and you are laying down some serious suppressive fire. This of course can get costly in BBs if that is a concern for you. The Hop-Up system on the rifle is also really good and easily accessible. It is a slide-bar type adjustment and is located under the bolt cover. You get to it by pulling back the charging handle like many other airsoft guns. The only “downs” I have experienced with the gun so far is that due to the high rate of fire and the vibration caused by it tends to cause the front site post mounting screw (under the cleaning rod) to loosen. This causes the site post to jiggle and rock back and forth, making accurate use of the iron sites impossible. The same vibration will cause the pistol grip to become loose from the body as well. Both of these issues are easily fixed with a few turns of a screwdriver and possibly the application of some lock-tite. Perks- Not only is the AK-47 a great weapon out of the box but there are many accessories out there available for it as well as after-market upgrades. Drum Magazines can allow you to have 1000 rounds at your immediate disposal. There are many modification kits available for this gun to include; Dragonuv SVD, RPK LMG and AK-74 kits. Wood furniture is also available after market. The weapon can be easily modified into just about any real variant of the AK-47 that could be imagined. In closing, the AK is a great weapon for the beginner, the advanced
player and the gun customizing engineer. It offers accuracy, rate of
fire, endurance, solidity, and variability with very few down-falls.
I would definitely recommend this airsoft gun to anyone. |
