IMI Desert Eagle Spring Pistol

AIRSOFT PRODUCT REVIEWS:

Cybergun/UHC IMI Licensed Springer Desert Eagle

Intro- I admit I have never been a fan of the overly large unwieldy Desert Eagle. I was going to be a hard sell on this gun from the get go. This is a replica of the .44 magnum version of the Desert Eagle. The pistol does indeed have a nice satin steel finish to the plastic which helps the look a great deal. The left side of the gun holds the trademarks. Sure enough “Desert Eagle-.44 Magnum Pistol. Israel Military Industries”. IMI. That’s the manufacturer of the real thing. Not bad for springer trades I must say. The other side displays standard safety markings but sadly lacks the sticker with “Do not point at creature”. I am collecting these and was a little let down…but I digress. Back to the gun. The handles sport the IMI logo of the Sword/Gear/Leaf. Nicely done. This pistol is beefy which should come as no surprise to anyone who has watched any action move in the last few years. The Desert Eagle is a symbol of power. There aren’t many handguns that could give this one a run for its money power wise. UHC produced these directly in the past, and now they appear to continue to do so under the Cybergun logo. You can’t go wrong with UHC made springers so I figured I wouldn’t be let down. It even has a serviceable dovetail rail running along the forward end of the barrel. I thought this to be a handy addition. You could add an inexpensive airgun red dot scope or laser.

Function- After taking the safety plug from the barrel, I loaded the mag with .12s and went outside to give this monstrous handgun a try. The mag locks into place with a solid click. The mag release is located on the left side of the trigger guard and allows the mag to easily fall into your hand thanks to the weight. The gun is a pleasure to shoot. It zings .12s at a very respectable range. I continually pegged a 4 inch wide post at 40 feet in windless conditions. I am sure the UHC engineering and long barrel are responsible for the range and accuracy. Since the gun is a standard springer, you have to pull the action back manually between each shot. I expected a lot of torque on the slide but was pleased to find it moved smoothly without too much resistance. I am guilty of shooting with my brain so I tested the “iron sights” of the gun and they work just fine. I just can’t see aiming a gun this big. You just sort of brandish it in your opponent’s direction and they expire from fright alone. Oh, another point to bring up is the noise level. This is a fairly quiet pistol. I am sure you can see where that would be handy in a springer skirmish.

Perks- I have played with a lot of springers and can safely say that this one is the best investment you can make in the $20 price range. It is accurate, has good range, and the action is smooth. It will take dovetail mount accessories. You also get cool trademarks in the deal too. It will outrange many of the other springer pistols you encounter out there…and do it with style. If you are in the market for your first airsoft gun and don’t have a lot of pocket change, this is the gun to buy without a doubt.
