AIRSOFT PRODUCT REVIEWS:
Cybergun SIG SAUER 552 Spring Rifle Intro: When I first got my hands on this little beauty…I could swear it was an AEG. They are really nicely detailed. The mags are essentially an AEG lowcap, complete with fake bullets. A really nice cosmetic touch if I do say so. Now, I’ve never held a real Sig rifle but I image this puppy is close if not a bit lighter. One of the things you will notice is that there is a lot of metal on the gun. It’s a nice size and very maneuverable. Of the springer rifles on the market…it is definitely one of the better looking models. Function: The mag feels even sturdier than my g36 mags. You load it like any other lowcap. The gun comes with a loading tube in the box which works great. I found my Marui speed loader to be even better suited for this task. Once you fill the 60 round mag, it clicks into place firmly. You have to rock it into place just like the AEG model, from front to back. I can tell that I am not going to be dropping my mag out in the middle of a fight….unlike some of my AEGs (cough cough). Operation is very simple. Pull back the charging handle on the site, take aim, and let her rip. The hop up is fixed but this isn’t a problem as the rifle is fairly accurate as is. One thing to note is that although the box says to use .20s, I found the hopup better suited to .12s. The stock can be release by pressing the large thumb stud near where the body and the stock meet. I don’t foresee using the gun with the stock tucked away but it does make it easier to store. The front sight can be adjusted. The fire selector functions as a safety which while not a big deal, is a nice touch. With .12s I was hitting within a 2 foot square at roughly 50 feet. I am starting to thing this gun would be great for scenario games if you have to take out sentries quietly at medium range. It could be folded and stowed on your webbing with little effort. Perks: Chances are if you have to buy a springer rifle, it is going to cost you most of your airsoft budget at the time. This Sig is a sure-fire buy. The gun has a lot of metal parts: Fire Selector The other perks of the weapon include adjustable front sights, functional top and side weaver rails (I tricked mine out with a red dot and laser), metal sling mounts, and what appear to be really accurate trademarks. They read “Sig Arms Inc. Exeter – NH”. This is followed by the Sig circle logo. Below this you will find “Sig 552 - 2 Commando 411966-1966”. Lastly at the bottom you will find “Cal. 6mBB”. That’s more trademarks than any gun I own. The 552 is compact and sturdy. It might even be a reasonable backup for an AEG if you want to trade rate of fire for silent shots. If you are in the market for a springer rifle that’s different from all the Colt clones, then this Sig would be the best option. - Review done by Balin - local airsoft player on Team Blackjack |
